Before you start

How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the scope — the size of the space, what's being installed, how much cabling is involved, and what equipment is needed. There's no flat rate because no two projects are the same.

As a rough sense: a small home Wi-Fi upgrade is on the lower end. A full install with cabling, cameras, and switching costs more. Equipment and labor are quoted together so there are no surprises.

The free consultation is how we get to a real number. After seeing the space and understanding what you want, you'll have a clear quote before any work begins.
Do you serve my area?
We serve the Finger Lakes and surrounding areas in upstate NY — including Penn Yan, Keuka Park, Hammondsport, Watkins Glen, Geneva, Canandaigua, Naples, Victor, and Auburn. If you're outside that range, reach out — travel is sometimes possible depending on the project size.
What happens during the free consultation?
We walk through the space, talk through what isn't working and what you want to improve, and put together a simple plan — what equipment is needed, where it goes, and what everything will cost. For Wi-Fi and cameras, we can map the layout to model coverage before anything is installed. You'll have a clear recommendation and quote before any work begins.
Do I need to buy equipment before we talk?
No. Equipment can be sourced as part of the project. If you already have gear on site, we'll look at it and use it where it makes sense.

The install

Can you fix an existing setup, or is this only for new installs?
Both. Some projects are new installs; others are upgrades or fixes — poor Wi-Fi coverage, unreliable cameras, a messy rack. We'll identify what's causing the problem and make a clear plan to fix it.
How long does a typical project take?
It depends on the size of the space and what's being installed. Some jobs are a single visit; others take a few days. You'll get a realistic timeline during the consultation before anything starts.
What equipment do you use?
Most installs use UniFi by Ubiquiti. It brings Wi-Fi, cameras, switching, and phone systems into a single dashboard — fewer apps to manage, one consistent system, and simpler support over time. It's proven hardware that's designed to be updated and maintained for years.

After the install

Will I keep full access to my own system?
Yes. You get admin access and a full walkthrough at handoff. Nothing is locked away or hidden.
Do I have to sign up for ongoing support?
No. Most projects are one-time installs with a clean handoff. Ongoing remote administration is available for clients who want monitoring, proactive updates, and faster troubleshooting — but it's entirely optional.
How do I get help after the job is done?
Email info@sladenetworks.com. If remote support is set up on your system, many issues can be handled quickly without a site visit.
